are everywhere.  We encounter them when we turn on the television, when we walk through a nightclub, when we listen to music.  We see them in the people we talk to, and in the people we avoid.  We even see them in ourselves.  Illusions are, quite simply, distractions from the truth.

With the wave of a hand, they can dazzle us with bright lights and fancy tricks, all the while averting our eyes from what’s really going on behind the curtain. Sometimes it feels like my life works in the same way.  The five songs on this EP look back on experiences I’ve had, and the painful process of realizing that some of the most important parts of my life –   - were not what they appeared to be.  The irony is that, just like a magic show.  I often found myself wanting to believe the lies, because what fun is a magic trick if you know how it’s done? An illusion can be a powerful comfort zone, but I learned the hard way: it won’t last.  Beyond all the smoke and mirrors, beyond the painful illusions in the life that threaten to hold us down, there is always real magic.  Real purpose. 

We will all encounter illusions throughout our lives.  The important thing is to recognize them for what they are: sources of growth.
