While in Tucson for a few shows, we hopped over to our old stomping grounds at the University of Arizona and, after getting locked out of the music building, snuck outside of the law building and recorded a cover of “Mean” by Taylor Swift. I’m a ridiculous fan of Taylor’s and I’m somewhat ashamed that it’s taken me this long to do one of her songs! It’s impossible to pick a favorite, but “Mean” is definitely somewhere near the top of my list. Hope you all enjoy this bluesy version!

Most anniversaries are a timeless celebration of love. A thoughtful observance of another wonderful year gone by with that special someone still leached to your side……. This is NOT that anniversary. Fellow dumped-ees – this is for you. It’s time to throw back those tears, and get your party on.. “Cuz it’s the one year anniversary….!”
This is a song called “Pretty Irish Girl” from a classic, vintage Disney movie “Darbie O’Gill and the Little People”. If you haven’t seen it, go out and rent it – it’s the perfect St. Patrick’s Day movie. Growing up I remember being pretty scared by the Banshee… watch the movie and you’ll understand!
*I recently ran into a neat little article written about this video. Thanks so much, Megan! http://www.worldirish.com/listening-post/view/an-ode-to-the-pretty-irish-girl-742
Ever since I first heard the sweet sounds of Jason Mraz’s third studio album “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things”, and saw him play live at the Rialto in Tucson, Arizona in 2008, I’ve been on the edge of my seat, impulsively consuming as many behind the scenes videos and vintage live performance as humanly possible in order to fill what has been an excruciating 4 years without new material from Mr. AZ. Well, the waiting is almost over. In April, Jason will finally release his fourth studio album “Love is a Four Letter Word”! The Mraz faithful may now let out a collective “!#?%$!!!”
As a way of easing the pain of another agonizing month of waiting, here is a cover I did of one of Jason’s songs off the upcoming album. It’s called “The Woman I Love”. If this song is any indication of what we are to expect from “Love is a Four Letter Word”, I’d say we’re in for quite a treat!
I admit it. Maybe sometimes I pretend I’m in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’. Can’t blame a guy for wanting a classy, old fashioned New York lifestyle once in a while.
This song puts me in a trance. “Moon River” originally sung by Audrey Hepburn.

Seeing as how I never actually posted this song to YouTube, I figured it was about time!
Here is our performance of “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5 at our show a few weeks ago. We had an absolute blast, playing from around 8pm to 10pm with 18 or so songs ranging from old “classics” like “The Way You Planned It”, to brand new originals like my new song “Beautiful You Are” (which, incidentally, we’ll be releasing next Saturday.. *wink wink*), and some great covers in between. It’s awesome to be able to play in an environment that embraces music the way ‘Jen’s’ does (and to be able to sample some of that free food and drink ha!).
Growing up, there was pretty much either one of two things playing on the stereo: Disney music, or Jimmy Buffett. Don’t worry, your Disney cover is coming eventually.. but first.. This is one of the many Jimmy Buffett songs that bring me back to my childhood and really put me a great mood. I got to go to a concert of his when I was younger, and he played this song. The experience not only showed me just how big (and crazy) a Buffett concert can be when you’re surrounded by Fruitcakes and Parrotheads, but it also gave me my first taste of live music, and how powerful it can be with heart, creativity, and vision. Thanks Jimmy.
